Our Board information

The role of the board

The Board are collectively responsible for our management, direction and performance. The main functions of the Board are to:

  • Agree on the society's purpose. 
  • Set our strategy and monitor performance. 
  • Set our annual budget, medium-term plan and approving capital expenditure levels. 
  • Manage our long-term interests. 
  • Oversee operations and manage risk within the society. 
  • Set our remuneration policy.
  • Maintain an appropriate culture and set an appropriate tone 
  • Oversee governance arrangements.

Board committees

The Board operates through six committees. Each is responsible for a different activity.

This gives the Board an honest and independent view of how well the Society's internal control system works.
